CAMPIONATI STUDENTESCHI

Per il sottoscritto, come per moltissime altre persone, i “Campionati Studenteschi” (al tempo “Giochi della Gioventù”) hanno rappresentato la prima tappa della conoscenza del mondo della pallamano; forse la più significativa perché mi ha permesso di scoprire questo meraviglioso sport e di intraprendere una carriera molto interessante. Ai “Giochi della Gioventù” sono legati ricordi bellissimi e un’esperienza molto particolare perché, prima di tutto, mi hanno consentito di arrivare alle “Final Four” nazionali a Roma nel 1983 e di salire sul podio (terzo posto) dietro le squadre della regione Sicilia (fortissima formazione scolastica allenata dal prof. Pellegrino di Messina) e della regione Friuli Venezia Giulia; al quarto posto la Liguria. Poi mi hanno permesso di girare l’Italia dal 1978 al 1983 nelle fasi interregionali (Sassari, Terni, Caserta, ecc.). Come esperienza sportiva giovanile, in quanto a emozioni provate, paragonerei “I Giochi della Gioventù” solo alla manifestazione Interamnia di Teramo, altro evento eccezionale per il nostro sport.

          In quegli anni (periodo in cui era Presidente Federale, l’on. Concetto Lo Bello) era un fiorire di partecipazione attiva in termini di atleti che travasavano dalla scuola ai “club”; un vero e proprio “boom” di tesserati per la pallamano italiana.

          Quindi i “Giochi della Gioventù” hanno rappresentato il mio trampolino di lancio e moltissimi ragazzi che ho incontrato nelle gare di questa manifestazione, li ho ritrovati sui campi delle competizioni agonistiche federali nel corso della mia carriera arbitrale.

          Insomma i Campionati Studenteschi, in quanto frutto del movimento scolastico, senza dubbio rappresentano uno dei motori propulsivi di qualsiasi disciplina sportiva.

          Ora qualcuno ha colpevolmente stabilito che siano manifestazioni di serie “B” e che non è il caso di investire risorse e denari per questi eventi. Niente di più sbagliato!

          Non è solo un parere personale, a detta di molti la FIGH dovrebbe coprire il buco economico e di risorse umane che, purtroppo, ha lasciato il MIUR evitando di organizzare la fase nazionale dei Campionati Studenteschi (almeno per la pallamano). Tutti noi sappiamo benissimo che, ad oggi, in tutte le regioni, i Campionati Studenteschi non superano la fase regionale e, in molti casi, neanche quella provinciale. In ultima analisi, il MIUR non ha risorse economiche per coprire il “budget” relativo alla programmazione della fase nazionale.

          È quindi il caso che la FIGH, come fanno altre federazioni, veicoli contributi economici in questa direzione e segua questa strada per il bene della nostra disciplina.

          Inoltre è necessario che siano coinvolti maggiormente gli insegnanti nelle scuole; ci sono alcuni professori di educazione motoria che rappresentano un bene prezioso e inestimabile per il nostro movimento sportivo; su loro dobbiamo maggiormente concentrare le nostre attenzioni perché, sempre in maniera gratuita, dimostrano una passione che non ha eguali, un potente mezzo di divulgazione per la nostra disciplina sportiva.

          In altre parole, questo dovrebbe essere uno dei modi di investire sulla base e sui territori della nostra comunità sportiva, ma ci vuole una seria e determinata volontà politica dei vertici federali per impegnare contributi economici, programmi e risorse umane.

          Fatti, non parole!

STUDENT CHAMPIONSHIPS

In my opinion, as for many other people, the “Student Championships” (at the time “Youth Games”) represented the first stage of the knowledge of the world of handball; perhaps the most significant because it allowed me to discover this wonderful sport and embark on a very interesting career. To the “Youth Games” there are beautiful memories and a very special experience because, first of all, they allowed me to get to the national “Final Four” in Rome in 1983 and to get on the podium (third place) behind the teams of the Sicily region (very strong school team trained by prof. Pellegrino di Messina) and the region Friuli Venezia Giulia; in fourth place Liguria. Then they allowed me to tour Italy from 1978 to 1983 in the interregional phases (Sassari, Terni, Caserta, etc.). As a youthful sporting experience, as far as emotions are concerned, I would compare “The Youth Games” only to the Interamnia event in Teramo, another exceptional event for our sport.

          In those years (a period in which he was Federal President, the Member of Italian Parliament Concetto Lo Bello) was a flourish of active participation in terms of athletes who moved from school to “clubs”; a real “boom” of Italian handball federation members.

          So the “Youth Games” represented my springboard and a lot of the guys I met in the competitions of this event, I found them on the fields of the federal competitions during my arbitral career.

          In short, the Student Championships, as the result of the school movement, undoubtedly represent one of the driving forces of any sport.

          Now someone has culpably established that they are a second division series demonstrations and that it is not the case to invest resources and money for these events. Nothing could be more wrong!

          It is not just a personal opinion, according to many the FIGH should cover the economic and human resources gap that, unfortunately, has left the MIUR avoiding to organize the national phase of the Student Championships (at least for handball). We all know very well that, till now, in all regions, the Student Championships do not exceed the regional phase and, in many cases, not even the provincial one. Ultimately, the MIUR has no economic resources to cover the “budget” related to the programming of the national phase.

          It is therefore the case that the FIGH, as do other federations, vehicles economic contributions in this direction and follow this path for the good of our discipline.

          In addition, teachers must be more involved in schools; there are some school teachers who represent a precious and invaluable asset to our sports movement; we must focus more on them because, always gratuitously, demonstrate a passion that has no equal, a powerful means of dissemination for our sport.

          In other words, this should be one of the ways to invest on the base and territories of our sports community, but it takes a serious and determined political will of the federal governance to commit economic contributions, programs and human resources.

          Actions, not words!
