QUANTO SIAMO FORTI!

Ma quanto siamo forti noi della pallamano italiana! Noi che siamo ogni giorno sui campi, nelle segreterie, nelle riunioni, nelle trasferte. Quanta forza d’animo abbiamo! Una forza dimostrata nella passione che mettiamo, nel modo in cui affrontiamo le difficoltà quotidiane, nel coraggio delle nostre scelte, nella determinazione delle nostre azioni, nella spasmodica ricerca di tempi migliori. Siamo come le canne di bambù, che si piegano ma non si spezzano … mai!

          Quello che per altri sport sono grandi problemi, per noi sono opportunità da risolvere. Non abbiamo mai la pappa pronta, dobbiamo sempre combattere come al fronte in una guerra che dura da anni, per conquistare ogni metro quadrato di superficie di gioco, ogni ora di tempo da dedicare al nostro sport, contro tutto e tutti, istituzioni ed enti locali, altre discipline.

          Non ci piangiamo mai addosso, siamo sempre pronti a combattere contro ogni avversità, contro ogni pregiudizio, contro ogni concetto distorto che ci appiccicano come un’etichetta indelebile (la pallamano? Quella che si gioca in acqua?).

          Riporto un concetto espresso da un filosofo giapponese, Daisaku Ikeda, un pensiero che trovo molto attinente alla mentalità dei praticanti la nostra disciplina sportiva, in Italia.

          “Come sarà il futuro? Nessuno conosce la risposta a questa domanda. Quello che sappiamo è che gli effetti che appariranno nel futuro sono tutti contenuti nelle cause poste nel presente. È dunque importante alzarsi e agire per raggiungere grandi obiettivi, senza farci distrarre o scoraggiare dalle difficoltà.”

          Forse però, detto in tutta sincerità, qualcosa ci manca, qualcosa di cui abbiamo veramente bisogno: il confronto continuo a tutti i livelli, la guida di persone illuminate e le motivazioni da parte di “leader” illuminanti.

HOW STRONG WE ARE!

But how strong are we of Italian handball! We, who are every day on the fields, in the secretarial office, in the meetings, in the sport trips. How much fortitude we have! A strength demonstrated in the passion we put in, in the way we face daily difficulties, in the courage of our choices, in the determination of our actions, in the frantic search for better times. We are like bamboo reeds, which bend but do not break … never!

          What for other sports are big problems, for us are opportunities to solve. We never have the food ready, we must always fight as at the front in a war that lasts for years, to conquer every square meter of playing surface, every hour of time to devote to our sport, against everything and everyone, local institutions and authorities, other sports.

          We never cry on ourselves, we are always ready to fight against every adversity, against every prejudice, against every distorted concept that stick us like an indelible label (the handball? the one that is played in the water?).

          I quote a concept expressed by a Japanese philosopher, Daisaku Ikeda, a thought that I find very relevant to the mentality of the practitioners of our sport in Italy.

          “What will the future be like? No one knows the answer to this question. What we do know is that the effects that will appear in the future are all contained in the causes posed in the present. It is therefore important to stand up and act to achieve great goals, without being distracted or discouraged by difficulties.”

          But perhaps, in all sincerity, we lack something, something that we really need: the continuous confrontation at all levels, the guidance of enlightened people and the motivations of enlightening “leaders”.
